Website update

Hello all,

Today the website has been updated to version 2.50.
This is quite a huge update which has been in development and testing for months.
The changelog contains more than 100 lines of changes/new features/fixes.
If we look at the code, it has more than thousand new lines/changes since the last update (v2.15)!

For the first time ever, this release also includes a completely new designed administration area that allows me to manage the website in an easy way. I no longer have to do all changes manually in the database anymore Smilie.
I've waited this long to develop this new administration area because I'm the only one that's using it, so I gave higher priority to things available to the public.

Anyway, you can find a small list below of the most important changes:

Quote:

  • New user password encryption, which is even stronger than the previous encryption we used.
To upgrade your account to the new security, simply login and the website will convert your password to the new encryption (one time process).
New registrations will automatically get the new encryption.

  • User e-mail addresses are no longer displayed in text. Instead the e-mail address is now shown as an image. This prevents spam bots from harvesting e-mail addresses.
It's also still possible to hide your e-mail address completely if you choose this option in the 'Edit account' menu.

  • Modified registration process: new accounts have to be activated by e-mail (activation link).
Note: I've already activated all existing user accounts, so no input is required from existing users.
    Only activated accounts can login.

  • Improved the CSS style of the website. Buttons are now bigger and easier to use. Text area's are wider and bigger too.

  • New header image.
Users that visit regularly might have to press F5 (reload) or CTRL + F5 (hard reload) to see the changes (old image might be in your cache).
New image has 3 soldiers in it, old image has 1 soldier Smilie.

  • Private messages older than 1 year aren't deleted automatically anymore now. The limit for auto-pruning has been changed to 5 years.
As before, archived private messages will never be auto-pruned, not even after 5 years (only the user can delete them manually).

  • Fixed a few bugs in private messaging system and BBcodes system.

  • New maintenance mode: enabling maintenance mode will close off the complete website to everyone except Administrators. This is a safety system that can be used in case serious issues would ever occur with the website.

  • The [WFF] join form is now fully implemented in the website. It will already fill in some fields automatically using your account information to make things easier!

  • Many other changes, fixes, optimizations and code cleanup.

This release will probably be the last big update of 2012.
If this update brings up any issues, those will be fixed very fast of course.

Hope you like the changes Smilie!

As far as gaming goes, I'm currently only active on Battlefield 3.
If you'd like to play together sometime don't hesitate to contact me!

Website update

Hey all,

Today the website has been updated to version 2.15.
This new version has been in development for over a month and is a maintenance release. Since our webhost is updating to PHP version 5.3 at the end of this month, I needed to make the website compatible with this new PHP version. With wff-clan version 2.15 a lot of the "behind the scenes" code has been optimized and improved. Code which isn't supported by PHP 5.3 has been replaced with new code that is future proof. Dozens of changes have been applied but I'll spare you all the technical details Smilie!

Other than that, all known bugs in the website have been fixed (nothing serious.. most of you won't notice Smilie ). However, if you do come across an error in the website, please notify me and I'll fix it as soon as possible Smilie.

The server stats and teamspeak stats have been disabled since they weren't in use anymore. A few more shouts are now displayed since there was some extra space available. The shoutbox now also displays a countdown-ticker which will tell you how many characters your message can contain.

Another update is already in development. The next update will introduce some new features, more info on that later Smilie.

Ranking System Update + New website feature

Hello all,

As most of you are aware, the ranking system hasn't been updated for a while.
This was due to issues with my FTP login.
I contacted the server company multiple times (10+), however I didn't get a response once.

Yesterday I sent an angry complaint e-mail, and luckily this finally got them to help me out.
My FTP login has been restored and the ranking system has just been updated now!

Today I've also introduced a new website feature:
You will now receive an e-mail notification when you receive a new private message here on the website.
You can ofcourse also modify this setting on the 'My account' page, turning this option on or off (standard it's ON).
Also note: this works independently from the forums setting (which hasn't been changed)!

Have fun! Smilie

June 2009: News Update

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since our main page got a new news post.. please excuse me for this.

[WFF] is still alive and kicking! We're also interested in some new blood joining our forces, so please do apply if you'd like to be a part of our great & fun team!

Unfortunately we had to drop our Call of Duty: World at War server a few months ago since there wasn't much interest for it.
We're now back to basics, which means focusing on CoD4 for the time being.

I would also like to take this opportunity to give our latest new members a warm welcome (this happened on forums already but doing it twice won't hurt!), these are:
Snuff
